Earlier today, January 6, 2018 students of the University of Dar es salaam (UDSM) residing in one among the hostels of the university named H.E. J.P Magufuli to honor the efforts of Tanzania president Dr. John Pombe Magufuli who fulfilled the pledge of his reign to topple accommodation problem in this leading higher learning institution in the country, have assembled with the authorities of the university to discuss the challenges facing them in these recently built hostels.
Residents manifested that there have been hurdles in this area of residence by voicing them out, which include lack of cafeteria inside the house, unfair treatment from security guards, infrastructural challenges as the road along the building is hardly passable, interaction restrictions as people from other halls of residence were not allowed to inter in and many more. Authorities promised to figure all these out and solve them right away.
Among the authorities which participated to hear the voices of the residents about their social life were; Hostel Manager, University student Accommodation Bureau (USAB) officials, Auxiliary police administrative officials, Wardens and Student government (DARUSO) leaders.
Magufuli Hostels which were unveiled and started offering shelter to university students in the year 2017, are able to accommodate more that 3840 students.
